Artist's Description
While hiking the Anasazi trail one spring at sunset, I stood at the cliff edge overlooking the Santa Clara River just taking in this beautiful scene.
All of a sudden a flash to the side caught my attention as this red-tailed hawk silently flew by less than ten feet below. I felt like I could reach out and touch it. The moment was so memorable, I knew I had to catch it in a painting.
The hawk looked like it was on fire, just glowing as he flew directly into the sun.
